The purpose of the present study is to identify and present active techniques and methods for university teachers so as to motivate their students to study noncurricular books. Out of all the students studying in one oof the courses in humanities at Islamic Azad University, Roudehen Branch, 540 were randomly selec ted . Data collection was done using a researcher-made questionnaire which encompassed the components of four families of teaching patterns (information processing family, social family of teaching,individual teaching family,and behavioral systems family ). The findings of the study indicates that benefitting from teaching methods and active techniques enhance the students’ motivation to study books.
