The aim of present study is to assessment a competency model for managers of Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). The research implementation approach from data gathering perspective is descriptive and of a survey type. The considered society is all managers and staffs engaged in the academic year of 2019-220. In this study, data are collected by use of three type of questionnaires for managements, senior managements and staffs. In order to determine the size of sample, senior managers and managers of the University were counted, and about 102 questionnaires were distributed among them. Also, according to the calculation table of the Cochran sample, 364 staffs of the university were sampled; and finally, 188 members of staffs were selected. In the conclusion, the results of this study showed that there are significant differences between the evaluations of the three groups about the competency of managers of this university; the variance analysis test also confirms this result. Therefore, it can be concluded that the average score of "managers' competency" from the viewpoint of subordinates and staffs is less than the score from the viewpoint of other two groups (managers and senior managers). Also the study indicates that from the perspective of the subordinates and staffs, managements, senior managements of the University “Teamwork Training” is necessary to IUST managers. After "teamwork training", "managerial skills" from the perspective of staff and managers and "increased job knowledge" from the perspective of senior managers are recognized.
